### How do I calculate Zakat?
Add eligible assets, subtract permitted liabilities, compare the net balance with your chosen nisab and check the lunar-year condition. For cash and similar wealth, the usual rate is 2.5% of the whole net eligible amount.
### What is the nisab for Zakat?
Nisab is the minimum threshold used in the assessment. This calculator uses 612.36g of silver or 87.48g of gold, multiplied by an indicative GBP price. The amount changes with metal prices. Another recognised weight convention uses 595g silver and 85g gold.
### How much Zakat is due on £10,000?
£250, if £10,000 is your net eligible wealth and the applicable nisab and hawl conditions are met. The calculation is £10,000 × 0.025. A balance alone does not establish whether Zakat is due.
### Is this calculator free to use?
Yes. There is no fee or account requirement. The full calculator can save inputs in your browser. A save link contains readable financial information, so only share it with someone you trust.
### Does Zakat have to be paid in Ramadan?
Your Zakat anniversary determines when annual wealth Zakat becomes due. Ramadan is a popular time to give, but an earlier obligation should not be postponed just to reach Ramadan. Advance payment has its own conditions.
